The Montgomery County Recreation Department will hold an ACL INJURY PREVENTION PROGRAM which starts on Thursday January 12, 2006 at the Norbeck-Muncaster Mill Park Center in Rockville, MD.

LAURA'A CORNER: STAY CONSISTENT FOR THE HOLIDAYS
As we get into the busy holiday season of shopping, parties, family, feasting and drinking, we need to keep our exercise program a priority! This is not the time to stop all of your hard work and discipline and throw it all away. If anything, this is the time to train harder and smarter to avoid extra pounds and feelings of guilt.

Maybe you can only make it to the gym twice a week, but you can make that count by increasing the resistance or cardio and decreasing the rest time. In addition, you can try to be active despite your stresses and obligations. for example:
You can do squat-sits in an airport chair or walk between terminals while you wait to board your plane. When your friends and family show up, go for a walk or jog: take them to the gym or a cardio class with you; play sports-based games like tossing the football; show off your expertise on the stability ball. Park farther away from the mall entrance and walk up the stairs whenever possible.

If you blow it for a day or two, forgive yourself and get back to taking care of yourself! You all know that exercise is a GREAT stress reliever, so, while endulging in your favorite things, never lose sight of the greatest gift you can give yourself: The gift of Good Health!
