A statement by Hippocrates best summarizes our practice philosophy: "The function of protecting and developing
health must rank even above that of restoring it when it is impaired." At Capital Sports Injury Center, we have
integrated many therapies into a pioneering form of injury care, health development, and sports/life performance
we call Integrated Functional Performance.
Our doctors and performance coaches integrate different therapies like Active Release Technique®, Graston Technique®, Kinesio® Tape,
Chiropractic Care, several forms of electrical stimulation and ultrasound, and corrective exercise to treat the nervous
system, soft tissues (muscles, tendons, ligaments), and the joints. We apply these therapies in a functional manner in
an effort to relieve pain, restore optimal function, and maintain health. Our goal is to improve your daily life,
whether that means your performance on the field or court or your ability to lift your child or get in and out of
your car.
Each patient or client is examined and evaluated to determine his or her specific needs. We then develop a
customized program of care and/or training and proceed accordingly. We recognize the value and responsibility of
working with other health care professionals and both co-treat and refer to many local physicians.
We have organized our services into four
categories. Please read about MSIC services below:
"After reading your Back on Track letter, I also would like to write
a Testimonial about my health. I went to my Orthopedic Doctor
for the awful pain I had. It turned out to be a Sciatica
Nerve. After seven (7) Tripe Injections into the spinal canal,
X-rays, MRI's and many trips to the doctors office, I was told that
I had '2 choices'. A back operation or stand the pain. I guess they
never heard of my third choice, YOU. After 2 treatments I put my
cane away and have not seen it since last October 1997.
The last time I was there I told you my neck was so stiff
I couldn't turn it it was making me light headed. In about
5 minutes you took it all away. Dr. Horwitz, I want to thank
you for all you have done for me. A letter is being formed that
I am going to send to T.V. stations, State officials,
and I would like Medicare to know how much money you have
save them. Thank you again, I am so happy that my Grandson found
you.
Sincerely,
Harriet Hibbs"

"Dr. Horwitz,
In early spring of 1998, 1 was suffering from fairly intense back
and shoulder pain. Being a hard-headed individual, I decided to ignore
the pain, and to work through it, keeping up with my regular schedule
of workouts and other outdoor activities, figuring that the pain would
quickly pass. It did Along with the pain went about 70% of my strength
on my right side. Literally, over night I was barely able to
dumbbell press l5lbs. on my right side, where before the injury
I was routinely putting up 85-90lbs. I was truly frightened I had
never before in my life experienced any form of paralysis, which
is the best way I can describe how I fell. I had no pain in my right
side, but I had also lost the use of most of my triceps and pectoral
muscles. I quickly found myself bounced around to several specialists,
including a neuro-surgeon who told me that I must completely stop
working out, for good I was also told that I should strongly
consider surgery, and that things would probably get worse for
me if I did not get the surgery that was needed This was an
answer that I simply could not accept.
Eventually, I met Dr. Horwitz. Being an athletic person himself,
he knew that telling me to stop working out was not only unnecessary,
but an instruction that I would probably not follow.
Dr. Horwitz explained that I would eventually make a full recovery,
if I followed his program. He outlined exactly how I could continue
working out with my injury, and how we would make my
recovery happen. After a few visits to Dr. Horwitz, I began to get
my strength back. Along with my strength came the relief of knowing
I was on the right track to a recovery. I continued
following his program, and now I am very close to making a full
recovery. I am excited about not only getting my strength back, but
I look forward to continued workouts and improving . My strength
far beyond my strength before my injury-- all without surgery! "
"During my months spent in therapy in the hands of Dr. Horwitz, he contributed tremendously to
my overall physical well being through the use of proper chiropractic
techniques and methods. His extensive knowledge, caring attitude and
sincere interest played a major role in my regaining
self-confidence lost while being plagued with a history of
'chronic back problems and numerous surgical procedures
(including a cervical fusion and lumbar laminectomy). I've gained
strength and had relief of my pain
- R-e-n-e-w-a-l! Thank you and my higher power for such great
"hands-on " treatment!"
