Capital Sports Injury Center SPORTS PERFORMANCE TESTING

CycleLife USA

We have partnered with CycleLifeUSA located in Georgetown to offer a comprehensive sports physiology lab under one roof. Whether you are looking to test your body composition, identify your resting metabolic rate, establish heart rate and power-based training zones or measure your aerobic and anaerobic capacity, we provide the equipment and know-how to help track and identify your unique fitness needs. After establishing your markers, we can then work with you to create a customized training program to maximize your training time and potential.

BIKE FIT
Fitting is paramount. Without proper fitting the greatest bicycle can be a hindrance, not a help. That’s why CycleLife is committed to helping each cyclist find their ideal fit. A CycleLife fit begins with a personal interview and assessment with one of our SBCI, FIST, and SICI certified professionals who analyzes multiple performance-related factors. Flexibility issues, muscular imbalances and limb length discrepancies are identified and factored into the fit. A 3-D image of each foot can be used to produce custom foot beds enabling proper foot-to-pedal interface. Once established, the cyclist is ready for the “dynamic” fit that uses motion capture software to identify the cyclist’s individual reference angles while riding your own bike on a computrainer or our own adjustable fit bike. Every step is custom; every step leads to the best possible fit and performance. FOR MORE INFORMATION AND PRICING, CLICK HERE.

BODY COMPOSITION ANALYSIS
Using the, BODPOD we can measure your lean body mass and body fat percentage. The BodPod uses the same principals and accuracy of a “dunk tank”, hydrodensiometry, except it uses air displacement instead of water. Just a lot drier experience for you! Body Composition is one of the best indicators of health, a reflection of both physical activity and nutritional practices. See this story on WUSA Channel 9. We all can weigh ourselves on a scale and see the numerical results. The scale, however, no matter how precise the measurement, has no way to differentiate a pound of muscle from a pound of fat. Despite the common reference of being "overweight," having excess body weight and excess body fat are two completely different things, and are often confused when determining the correct and most efficient workout pattern.

That’s where the BOD POD comes in. More traditional tests to determine body composition, like bioelectrical impedance and skin fold calipers can be time consuming, and worst of all remain flawed, with error rates of up to 8%.

A BOD POD test and consultation takes 20 minutes and provides you data on percentage of body fat, lean body mass, and an estimate of your resting metabolic rate (RMR). This enables our instructors to provide the most accurate guide of how many calories you can eat to improve your body composition. Best of all, the BOD POD technology is accurate within 1%. It is quick, painless and can save you thousands in inaccurate training costs for a one-time fee of just $100, with all results supplied directly to you.

As we all look for the best possible return on investment (ROI), especially with our health, the question is not if the BOD POD is worth the investment. The question is really, if we want to have the best and most accurate workout, how can we do without BOD POD? FOR MORE INFORMATION AND PRICING, CLICK HERE.

RESTING METABOLIC RATE
Using the state-of-the-art CosMed Quark CPET metabolic analyzer, we are able to accurately measure your resting metabolic rate. Establishing this baseline allows you to know exactly what your minimum caloric intake could be. You can then understand, based on your RMR, and your daily activity, how many calories you will need each day in order to either maintain or lose bodyweight. LACTATE/ANAEROBIC THRESHOLD
Also using the CosMed Quark CPET analyzer, we perform a graded intensity test that will identify your lactate threshold – used synonymously, in this instance, with anaerobic threshold. This is basically the one's “red line” and is a strong determiner of success in all endurance events. FOR MORE INFORMATION AND PRICING, CLICK HERE.

VO2 MAX
VO2 Max is a measure of one's aerobic capacity, or the volume of oxygen consumed at maximal effort. This is also measured using the CosMed Quark CPET. Having a high VO2 Max is not a determinant of performance, but more of one's potential. Good news is that we can capture both lactate threshold and VO2 Max in the same test. ANAEROBIC CAPACITY
Using the Velotron ergometer bicycle, we perform the Wingate Anaerobic Test to determine your peak anaerobic power and anaerobic capacity. This is a strong indicator of success in sports and events that require explosive power such as a sprinting. FOR MORE INFORMATION AND PRICING, CLICK HERE.

METABOLIC EFFICIENCY TEST
This test measures your ability to use fat as your primary fuel source. Knowing this efficiency is especially important for endurance athletes because, while we store only about 45 minutes worth of glycogen (energy from carbohydrates) at any time, even the leanest athlete stores several hours worth of fuel as fat. From the results, we can recommend training protocols and adjustments to your basic nutrition to improve that efficiency. FOR MORE INFORMATION AND PRICING, CLICK HERE.

EVENT NUTRITION TEST
Whether your event is a 40k time trial, a marathon or Ironman triathlon, or a charity bike ride, consuming the right amount and mix of calories is paramount to your best performance. With the Event Nutrition Test, we measure your caloric needs for your specific event so you can finish your strongest with the least possibility of stomach distress.
